download Giving Babies the Best Start in Life! (Dallas.CityRegions.Com, October 06, 2015 ) Garland, TX -- Ever larger numbers of expectant mothers are looking for more than the standard levels of nutrition found in most prenatal vitamins. Today, mothers-to-be want vitamins that reflect the latest research and scientific breakthroughs. Frontrunners Health, an industry leader in premium quality nutritional supplements, has stepped forward to fill the gap with their newest product, Baby's Best Start prenatal vitamins.
Although women in every stage of their pregnancy are encouraged to take prenatal vitamins, it is even more important in the earliest weeks of gestation. It's at this point when certain birth defects, such as spina bifida and anencephaly, may occur. To help prevent this, many pregnancy vitamins and even breakfast cereals and breads are supplemented with folic acid (the synthetic version of folate, an important B vitamin).
However, folic acid may not be the best choice for most people and for some it could be detrimental.
Although the chemistry behind this potential problem is complex, it boils down to this—folic acid requires a particular enzyme for metabolism. As this enzyme is somewhat rare, it's very likely that people who receive large doses of folic acid through fortified food and vitamins have may be unable to process all of it, resulting in large amounts of unmetabolized folic acid left circulating within the body.
There are researchers who believe this may pose real dangers. A study cited in a 2007 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA. 2007 Jun 6;297(21):2351-9), suggests that supplementing with folic acid may pose an increased risk of certain cancers. Because of these concerns, Frontrunners Health has chosen to use L-methylfolate in their product instead of folic acid. This methylated version of vitamin B9 does not require the extra step for conversion that folic acid does, making it more "user-friendly" for most people.
The addition of Lutein to Baby's Best Start prenatal vitamins is another example of the kind of forward thinking exhibited by this vitamin manufacturer. Lutein assists with a baby's brain and eye development. Since a baby's first year of life is a particularly important time of brain growth and development, nutrition takes on a vital role. For these reasons, it may be beneficial for a new mother to continue taking a prenatal supplement that contains lutein while she is breastfeeding.
Baby's Best Start Prenatal Vitamins also contain a generous dose of vitamin D3, the form of vitamin D most often recommended by doctors. Babies who receive adequate levels of Vitamin D in utero, are less likely to exhibit dental disease early in life. According to Frontrunner Health's Regional Sales Manager, Allison Spencer, "When we developed our prenatal vitamin, we really thought about the kind of ingredients that would be of most value to an expectant mom and her baby. We put a lot of time, energy and research into Baby's Best Start. I would wholeheartedly recommend this vitamin to any family member or friend!" Allison believes the popularity of their recently released prenatal vitamins is skyrocketing due in large part to their focus on quality without compromise.
